Step by Step — Groundworks, Slab, Patio and Resin Driveway

This project shows every stage of the work in order, from the first dig to the finished surfaces. CMD started by stripping the ground back to formation level with a mini excavator, removing spoil and bringing in clean stone to build a stable, well-drained base.

A damp-proof membrane was then laid and lapped up the edges, with steel reinforcement set out on spacers to the correct cover before the concrete was poured, levelled and floated to a clean, flat finish ready for the structure above.

Above ground, the brickwork retaining walls, steps and piers were built in matching facing brick, then finished with large-format porcelain paving laid to falls with tight, consistent joints. The front of the property was completed with a permeable resin-bound driveway between new brick edging, giving a hard-wearing, low-maintenance finish.
